it barely makes a difference
neon signs on every corner
heartbreak doesn't care for distance
like the blocks i'm tearing through the separate me from that scene
but i feel like i've moved centimeters and i'm sadder than i've been in a long while

spend the day constructing playlists
for the folks i know and moments that i've missed
since i can't seem to use my words
i'll use someone else's
like "there's wild music in you", "build a birdhouse in my soul"
and holy words that big star sang about rock n roll
it's "here to stay"
i wish you were too

i'm afraid that i've blurred
the line between self pity and self concern
